Words Without Noise

Visit me, spirit of poetry
Lend me your pen for a night, if you will
Bring me your charms
Let my words be the arms
That incircle her–words she can feel

Visit me, spirit of poetry
Spare no expense to impart me your grace
Teach me some lines
That may quiet her mind
And inspire a smile on her face

Visit me, spirit of poetry
I have no physical form she can see
Give me a life
In the letters I write
So that she might be present with me

Visit me, spirit of poetry
Here is my soul–melt it down into ink
Show me the way
I can speak and convey
Every praiseworthy thing I can think

Visit me, spirit of poetry
Take my devotion and channel it there
Transfer your spark
To the beat of my heart
Till my words can remind her I care

Visit me, spirit of poetry
If you have any compassion, indeed
Trade this: my voice
For the words without noise
So that I may provide what she needs

      • I don’t know if I do have much else to give at the moment. If you met me in real life you might think me very distant and quiet lately. I have detached quite nicely from reality it seems. Much of what is left of me seems to be here. Some days I barely recognize myself in the mirror, and I feel that the faceless “me” on this blog is probably more like who I am than that stranger staring back at me. Have you ever felt that way?

      • Ah I have felt that more often than I care to recall these days, but I believe there will come a time that I will see myself again in that reflection and I’m sure that time will come for you as well. The passion and love in your words show that you still have that in you even if you do not see it on the surface.

  1. VW I love this poem and I agree with jadedheart.. poetry did visit you this evening. But I would like to touch upon your comment you made:

It’s sad that we can all relate to this, our physical facades that we put up, ones that take hold of our own visions of ourselves and ony come out as truth with the words we write and type on this silly little space that we all share and comment on. I’m sad that this happens..but i am also happy that you recognize this, for it means you have aknowledged the area that you need and want (unconsciously) to fix in yourself.

    great work~ 🙂

    • Thank you, Bella. I’m so honored you take time to read and involve yourself in my world. I’m sure eventually I will regain my composure. Your encouragement is much appreciated, especially knowing the struggles you have endured lately. Thank you for your thoughts, my friend 🙂

    • Thank you very much! I will do that, although I doubt you would want my mixture of inspiration. I tend to draw off my pain and frustration a lot lately, but I will try to find some happy elixir to deliver your direction 🙂

  2. ahhh, cool. This is fluid 🙂 But come on now VW!!! The spirit of poetry seems to be your best friend. Send it my way now please!!!! 😀

    • Haha BlueGem, you have quite mastered the verse and rhyme. Your work is immaculate and hardly needs any help from an amateur like me. Your overly generous words are certainly encouraging though 🙂

  3. a beautiful notion. but my friend i feel you are that spirit. and whom u speak of I am sure you already have the words she needs.

    • I am not in this one, but here are a few I have cameo’ed in:

      Stria
      Tremors
For a Moment The World Does Not Exist
      Deepest Cuts
      The Tedious Business of Comforming
      Interwoven

Those are a few I can think of offhand. I have considered posting a full pic of myself eventually, but I am afraid it would detract from the mystery 🙂

  4. What an honest topic and so well exicuted. The emotion and craft is so on point. Any poetry loving woman would swoon over this. I like the photo as well. Did you make it?

      • I love that your words are here to be read. I look forward every day to see where you will bring us. Sometimes you are exactly where I am. Sometimes you help me think better of myself others and this world. Sometimes you make me think so deep I reread over and over… ❤ thank you for challenging me and inspiring me

  6. written with true excellence my fine friend and this poem is most certainly amongst your finest offerings, and I have only skimmed the surface of your delightful poetry, the journey is still incomplete and I will be calling by again to taste the never-ending source of your exquisiteness…
