The Night The Angel Closed Its Eyes

From birth, the sword was drawn
Clasped in hand with valor guarded
Eyes behind like amber monuments
Keeping watch
O’re the trajectory of the small star
Foresworn to shield
The fabric of it’s woven sinew
Rippled gently
Across a galaxy of possibility
But, when torn from orbit
The flickers cast unearthly glow
From brilliant bursts of
Effervescent radiance divine
The star did shine
Too blinding
For timeless eyes
Startled–wrenched from watch
And closed
For but an instant
Enough
To render safe gems prey
Stalked in grey
Assaulted and snatched
Bound to realms
And enchained
The light of which
The shadows do now hide
Forever lost and cast aside
The night the angel closed its eyes

  1. The light of which
    The shadows do now hide
    Forever lost and cast aside

I love that image. Shadows hiding in the light. So very unique and creative. You have just looked at the inverse of the situation. Very very cleaver.

  2. I don’t even have to read your poetry before I like it 🙂 May your guardian angel always stay awake my friend. Good writing as always!
