Delegates

20111216-022405.jpg
Warm bodies
Red dawns
The light, the night, the vacant room

Torn follies
Dead songs
The sea, the shore, the distant moon

While feeling secretly disposable
In castles made of sand
We fight the tide and hold the waves at bay
Pretending that we can

Prevent the wake of this apocalypse
When all we have is us
Against the forces of the universe
Like delegates of love

  1. VW, this third stanza:

    While feeling secretly disposable
    In castles made of sand
We fight the tide and hold the waves at bay
    Pretending that we can

is so beautifully written. And then the last line sums up life, “delegates of love”. This is so masterfully penned. I just feel your soul song like a strong, deep river running beneath every word. This truly touched me, VW. My favourite of yours, so far.

  2. Wow!! This is an incredible poem, VW !! I love every line, and especially this:

    “While feeling secretly disposable
    In castles made of sand
We fight the tide and hold the waves at bay”

This is sooooo genius!! I love it.

  3. i’m a big fan of ocean imagery. so primal. so powerful. i felt that love could conquer all. even in darkest moments. i also really liked the end: like delegates of love! they are like diplomats of desire. it’s always inspiring, visiting your space 🙂

  4. Such a beautiful night
    Snowflakes are falling
    In front of the streetlight

    Such perfect weather
    You know that I’m stalling
    Bound by invisible tether

    Such a warm embrace
    You keep tears from falling
As you sweetly kiss my face

    Such an intense gaze
To say you’ll miss me darling
I could stand like this for days

    Melting snowflakes turn to tears
    Down my cheek slowly falling
Feel I won’t see your blue eyes for years

  5. I had no soon clicked the like button last night and got taken away from my pc for the night.
This poem is so sad, and sweet. You are so good at giving your poems perfect balance.
    Hugs, xx
